First African-American to be drafted and play in the NFL

Wally Triplett, a Detroit Lions legend who was the primary African-American participant to be drafted and play within the league, died Thursday morning. He was 92. “Wally is among the true trailblazers in American sports activities historical past,” the Lions stated in a press release.
